Outlast™ Q8 Log Oil
The Q8 log oil is an exterior wood preservative registered with the EPA, specifically designed to control organisms (and mold, termites, beetles) that cause decomposition in log houses and wood paneling. Outlast Q8 log oil provides unsurpassed water-repellent and transparent single-layer trans-oxide paint. Outlast Q8 log oil is a completely exterior treatment that does not create a film and will never crack or peel. The trans-oxide pigment system provides excellent UV control that acts as a sunscreen to slow down the grayness of wood and fade. The solution melts in the wood to provide protection, not only on the surface, but also deep in the structure of the wood cells. Outlast Q8 log oil offers unique flexibility in terms of application temperature range, moisture content in logs and mode of transport. Outlast Q8 log oil meets national VOC requirements. Coverage: Approximately 150-175 sq. ft. per gallon for new wood. Under application is far and a way the primary cause of short treatment life. However, only one coat at a time is recommended. The water repellency in Outlast Q8 Log Oil builds quickly making it unfeasible to multi-coat until a period of years has elapsed. (It becomes so water repellent, it repels itself!) Additional applications should be applied as needed, usually every 4-8 years. Q8 Log Oil is very dark when first applied but lightens to the actual color after about 48 hours. Outlast Q8 Log Oil can be caulked or chinked with a urethane caulking after 30 days. If using a water based caulk or chinking it has to be 60 days in warm weather (Summer) and 90 days if cooler or (Spring⁄Fall). Cleanup: Soap and water. Storage: Freeze-thaw Stable
